Coming to the Practice

3 Coates Place, Edinburgh, EH3 7AA

My practice for in-person sessions is at 3 Coates Place, Edinburgh, EH3 7AA.

Coates Place is a short Victorian residential terrace in the West End of Edinburgh, running between Manor Place and Palmerston Place just a few minutes' walk from Haymarket Station. This quiet continuation of West Maitland Street is easily accessible by public transport, car and bicycle.

There are small shops and a café close by plus outdoor grassy areas and bench seating to relax before or after a session.

Getting here

Bus

There are frequent buses travelling to the West End and Haymarket from across Edinburgh.

Useful services include the numbers 2, 3, 4, 25, 26, 31, 33 and 44, with additional bus services to and from nearby Haymarket stops.

Depending on where you are travelling from, you can get off at Haymarket Station, Haymarket Terrace, West Maitland Street, Atholl Crescent or Shandwick Place. From these stops, I am only a short walk away.

Tip for your first visit: if you're unsure which stop is best for you, use the Lothian Buses app or Google Maps and search for 3 Coates Place, Edinburgh EH3 7AA, so you can choose the stop that involves the shortest walk. Bus and Tram app info

Train

Haymarket Station is only around a 3-minute walk from the practice, making the train a particularly easy option if you're travelling from elsewhere in Edinburgh or further afield.

From the station, walk towards Haymarket Terrace and then towards West Maitland Street. Coates Place is a short walk away.

Tram

Coates Place sits on the Edinburgh tram line, midway between the Haymarket and West End stops.

Getting off at the Haymarket stop, you walk toward the city centre along Haymarket Terrace and then West Maitland Street. From the West End stop, walk away from the city centre, west along West Maitland Street towards Haymarket.

Driving & parking

There is no dedicated parking at the practice, but there are pay-and-display spaces via the Ringo app in the surrounding streets.

Parking can be busy in this part of Edinburgh, so if you're driving, I'd suggest allowing yourself a little extra time before your appointment rather than feeling rushed.

Please check the signs carefully when parking, as restrictions and payment arrangements vary.

Cycling & bike parking

If you're cycling to your appointment, the West End is well connected to Edinburgh's cycle network. There are public cycle stands in the surrounding area where you can securely lock your bike.

There is cycle parking at Haymarket Station, including sheltered bicycle storage, and plenty of on-street cycle parking, which you can find on the City of Edinburgh Council’s cycle parking map.

Accessibility for clients

3 Coates Place has a small number of steps to the main door on the raised ground level, with original handrails either side. The room itself is accessed on this one level towards the back of the building, overlooking a garden area with lots of natural light and greenery.

The bathrooms do require you to walk down to the lower ground floor. This is one floor below the room, though again there are handrails all the way down.
